Details

This book provides a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary analysis of children’s rights across various biomedical contexts. The book's twenty-two chapters–authored by experts across Europe and the United States–examine diverse biomedical practices that affect children's human rights. The chapters scrutinise biomedical interventions on paediatric patients throughout childhood. The scholarly work covers interventions early in life and throughout their lifespan, including those children who face death before they meet the threshold for adulthood.

This book is the outgrowth of more than a decade of research on biomedical interventions that pose significant risks to children’s rights. It was inspired by the research of editors Slokenberga and Garland, together with their colleague Kavot Zillén’s work on The Rights of Children in Biomedicine for the Council of Europe.
