This text is a product of the research programme carried out by The Centre of Chinese and Comparative Law. It comprises a compilation of papers presented by leading experts and officials in the field of economic law at the Centre’s ‘Conference on China’s Company, Securities and Arbitration Law’ held in Beijing in July 1994.
 
This publication provides a comprehensive understanding of commercial laws in China, a timely and invaluable topic that, in particular, will shed light on China’s transition from a highly centralised to a market oriented economy and offers an insider’s perspective on its developing internationalisation. The authors have sought to come to terms with the past, present and, most significantly, future of China’s economic laws and reforms.
