Concise Australian Commercial Law is a new compilation edition of Clive Turner’s Australian Commercial Law, 28th Edition, consisting of those topics that are usually covered in introductory commercial law courses. It is only in the selection of topics that this new edition is “concise”: in the topics that have been chosen, Turner’s comprehensive, accurate and accessible text remains. Additional case summaries have been included and some of the existing summaries have been expanded upon to further illustrate key principles of particular interest to students of commercial law.

Some of the topics – particularly in relation to consumer law – have seen fundamental legislative changes. These include:

The introduction of new “unfair contract terms” and enforcement and remedies provisions by the Trade Practices Amendment (Australian Consumer Law) Act (No 1) 2010 (Cth); and
A re-drafting of many of the consumer protection provisions of the Trade Practices Act 1974 and their extension and consolidation in the new Australian Consumer Law (Sch 2 to the Trade Practices Amendment (Australian Consumer Law) Act (No 2) 2010 (Cth)).

This new edition not only incorporates these changes but also refers to a significant number of cases that have been decided since the last edition of Australian Commercial Law.
