About the Author

Stephan Kinsella

Stephan Kinsella is General Counsel with Applied Optoelectronics, Inc., in Sugar Land, Texas. Before joining AOI, he was a partner in the Intellectual Property Department of Duane Morris LLP. He has taught Computer Law at South Texas College of Law and is the author of numerous articles about intellectual property law, international law, and other topics. He is coauthor of International Investment, Political Risk, and Dispute Resolution: A Practitioner’s Guide (Oxford, 2005) and coeditor of Trademark Practice & Forms(Oceana/Oxford/West 2001-present).

Mr. Kinsella received an LL.M. (international business law) from King’s College London–University of London, his J.D. from the Louisiana State University Law Center, and M.S. and B.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Louisiana State University. Admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, he is also licensed to practice law in Texas, Louisiana (inactive), and Pennsylvania (inactive).

Patrick Tinsley
Patrick Tinsley is an associate at the law Firm of Avery, Dooley, Post & Avery in Belmont, Massachusetts, where he practices civil litigation with an emphasis on employment law. He is the coauthor of several law review articles covering a range of topics. Mr. Tinsley received his B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross; did graduate study in philosophy at Eberhard Karls University in Tuebingen, Germany; received an M.A. in philosophy from the University of Memphis; and received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
