About the Author

Christopher Jones is Deputy Director-General for Energy in the European Commission, with specific responsibility for international energy issues and the coordination of energy policy. Before then he was Head of Cabinet to the Commissioner for Development. This followed on from his positions as Director for New and Renewable Sources of Energy, and Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Commissioner for Energy, with responsibility for co-ordination and strategic development of energy policy. Prior to this he held a number of positions as Heads of Unit in the European Commission's Directorate General for Energy (later the Directorate General for Energy and Transport). Mr Jones studied Law at the University of Reading and the College of Europe in Bruges and is the co-author and editor of four books on competition and energy policies. He is also author of numerous articles on EU law and a Member of the Advisory or Editorial Boards of numerous academic journals.

Marc van der Woude is a judge at the General Court and professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Prior to joining the court, he was a member of the Brussels bar since 1995. Before that he was a member of the Legal Service of the European Commission. In the eighties he worked as a legal secretary at the Court of Justice, as a rapporteur in DG COMP and as a lecturer at Leiden University. Marc van der Woude studied law at the University of Groningen and College of Europe in Bruges. He is also author of numerous publications on EU law.
