About the Author

About the editors Ewoud Sakkers joined the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission in 1997. During his first period in DG Competition he worked in the Merger Task Force, and in 2001 he moved to cartel enforcement, to become Head of Unit in the Cartels Directorate in 2005. Prior to joining DG Competition Mr. Sakkers was with the trade policy department of the European Commission, working on anti-dumping and anti-subsidy issues. Before that, he was in-house legal counsel with KPN, the Dutch telecommunications company. Johan Ysewyn is a partner in Linklaters Brussels office since 2000. He has broad experience in all aspects of European and international competition law, particularly in mergers and joint ventures, competition compliance, cartel and leniency issues and abuse of dominance cases—acting for both the parties and complainants. Mr. Ysewyn’s practice has a strong focus on international and European cartel investigations, and he has defended companies from a range of sectors, who have been involved in cartel investigations around the world.
