Details

Foundations of International Law seeks to explain and illustrate the cardinal concepts of international law, providing students and practitioners with a sound grasp of the subject area’s structure and systemic requirements. The book brings clarity to international law that is occasionally missing from some specialist works, and a comprehensiveness which is always missing from basic introductions. It is unique in that it is written for a specifically Hong Kong readership.

The second edition is updated and revised to incorporate the most recent developments in international law across a wide range of areas. Recent decisions from the International Court of Justice and other international and domestic tribunals have been added. The chapter on international law in Hong Kong law has been revised to incorporate recent developments. It also includes entirely new sections on the responsibility to protect, terrorism, the crime of aggression, mens rea and general defences in international criminal law.

In an increasingly global society, a strong understanding of the principles of international law is invaluable. International Law in Hong Kong provides clear guidance to scholars, legal practitioners and students of law or international relations seeking to improve their knowledge and extend their understanding of this important subject.
