"[This book] is indeed a timely and much needed source of reference on gaming laws in view of the dearth of such reference material in this area."
Dato' Augustine Paul, Judge, Federal Court Malaysia

In the prosecution of gaming offences, and for the purposes of evidence's 24 of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 (the Act) specifically provides that reference may be made to CT Dobree'sGambling Games of Malaya or to any other publication or article which the courts may consider to be of authority on the subject to which they relate. CT Dobree's book was however written 50 years ago and much has changed since then. With this in mind and based on her experiences in the prosecution of gaming offences, the author conceived the idea for a current publication on this particular area of law, in the form of Gaming Laws - A Commentary

The author has sought to provide the reader with an understanding of the law governing gambling offences and the nature of the various games as specified in the First and Second Schedules to the Act, through decided cases both local and as well as those from other common law jurisdictions, with primary focus on local decisions. The preliminaries leading to a prosecution of a gaming offence, the elements that need to be proved, and sample charges are included in this publication. Particular emphasis is also placed on the evidential aspects in the prosecution of gaming offences.
