History Rocks! Women in Law

In 1919, Parliament passed the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act, which removed the barriers for women to enter the legal profession. The very next day, women were appointed as justices of the peace and Helena Normanton applied to start training as a barrister.

Our project – and this book – celebrates a century of women making legal history. Beautifully illustrated by the children who took part in workshops where their classroom was turned into the Houses of Parliament and who visited the Supreme Court for a special chat with Baroness Hale.
