The second edition of this work discusses the main principles of the law of evidence in Hong Kong.

This work covers all the major topics in the law of evidence including the burden and standard of proof, presumptions and judicial notice, confessions, unlawfully obtained evidence, the competence and compellability of witnesses, identification evidence, hearsay, expert evidence, real evidence, disclosure and legal and professional privilege.

With the increased examination of electronic evidence by lawyers and presentation in the Hong Kong courts, a new chapter is included on electronic discovery and computer forensics.

This edition continues the trend of the first edition towards identifying empirical research and pointing at international approaches and trends that may be relevant to Hong Kong.
