Details

Hong Kong Securities Handbook is a detailed work of reference containing up to date materials on the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap 571), the landmark piece of legislation that consolidates and reforms the pre-existing legislations regulating the securities, futures and leveraged foreign exchange contracts, intermediaries and markets in Hong Kong.

This Handbook reproduces the text of the Ordinance as currently in force, together with details of the legislative history. This Handbook also provides updated section-by-section annotations and commentaries to the Ordinance by Bernard Mak (barrister-at-law; editor-in-chief of Securities Law: HKSAR and PRC), Antonio M. Da Roza (barrister-at-law; research fellow of the Asian Institute of Financial Law, University of Hong Kong; general editor of Securities Law: HKSAR and PRC), John Shek (barrister-at-law), Professor Anton Cooray (Associate Dean, School of Law, City University Hong Kong) and Stefan Lo (Assistant Professor, School of Law, City University of Hong Kong). This text also includes excerpts from the Asian Institute of
International Financial Law Working Paper 4 by Dr. Douglas Arner, Director of AIIFL, and his co-author team. Furthermore, the annotations are fully cross-referenced, and the Handbook comes with comprehensive tables of cases, legislation and other sources referred to.

This up-to-date Handbook also tackles the prospective reforms and discussions involving the future of financial regulation in Hong Kong as a result of the current global financial crisis. Reports by the SFC and the HKMA on the matter such as the Lehman Brothers minibonds crisis are also discussed.

This series has been cited, with authority, in over one hundred court cases in the Hong Kong Court of First Instance, Court of Appeal, and Court of Final Appeal. This Handbook will be an invaluable source of reference for securities and corporate lawyers, staff of government regulatory bodies, MPF intermediaries, asset managers, securities and futures brokers and advisers, academics, students and all others who are engaged or interested in the administration of securities law in Hong Kong.
