Since the last edition of this popular text in 2003, security of tenure has been abolished and the common law has continued to develop, with the courts delivering judgment in hundreds of landlord and tenant disputes.

The fifth edition carries expanded coverage of preliminary agreements for tenancy, misrepresentation prior to letting, illegality of leases, contents of tenancy agreements, quiet enjoyment, derogation from giant, exercise of options to renew and to break leases, distress for rent, rent review, repudiation and forfeiture, recovery of deposits and condition of premises at termination of the lease. Many recent decisions, including decisions of the Court of Final Appeal, are covered. Developments in the law both in Hong Kong and elsewhere are referred to.

This book explains the law in a simple and lucid fashion, making it useful to land professionals, students and interested lay people. Areas of practical importance are given emphasis, ensuring that the text is of particular relevance of legal practitioners.
