The previous edition of the Law of Life, Motor and Workmen?s Compensation Insurance (Fifth Edition) was completed in July 1999. In the interval of almost six and a half years since the last edition, significant developments in the law have taken place.

This new edition, the Sixth Edition, takes into account developments in the law from July 1999 to November 2005. Since the last edition, we have seen the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B, Rev. Ed. 2002) come into force in 2002. The Motor Vehicles (Third-Party Risks and Compensation) Act (Cap. 189, Rev. Ed. 2000) has resulted in the renumbering of various provisions in the Act rendering the previous edition of this book difficult ato use. The text of the new edition has been strengthened by the consideration of new cases as well as those not previously dealt with in the book. Some of the recent decisions considered in the book provide an idea as to the changes that have been made in the new edition.
