Laws of Banking and Finance in the HKSAR addresses the contemporary issues relating to financial institutions and their operation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It examines the historical, economic, and social aspects of banking and finance. It traces the policies of banking and finance in the SAR during the last 150 years and under the Basic law. This book focuses on current issues and developments in the legal framework of the HKSAR, commercial instruments, relations between bankers and customers, banking institutions, and capital markets. It provides commentaries on legislation and case law as well as explaining the rationale behind the various regulatory frameworks. About the Author

Berry Fong-Chung Hsu is an associate professor in law in the Department of Real Estate and Construction, University of Hong Kong. Dr. Hsu, a Chartered Engineer of the British Engineering Council, is also a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria. His research interests include law of banking and finance, tax law and public law of Hong Kong.
