About the Author

Tom Altobelli is a Federal Magistrate at the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia. FM Altobelli was previously Associate Professor at the School of Law, University of Western Sydney and has published widely in the area of family law. He is an accredited specialist in family law, children's law, and mediation with over 25 years experience in the field.

Ian Serisier is Special Counsel at SWAAB Attorneys. He spent more than 30 years as a member of the New South Wales Bar where his practice was almost exclusively family law and de facto relationship disputes. He is a qualified family law mediator and arbitrator and a member of the College of Law Advisory Panel.
