He has been a Magistrate, Sessions Court Judge, Research Officer, Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, Senior Federal Counsel, Senior Deputy Public Prosecutor, Head of the Prosecution Unit, Johor and Head of the Appeals Units in the headquarters of the Attorney General?s Chambers. He is currently an Industrial Court Chairman based in Kuala Lumpur.

He is a pilot and has also served as the Director of Legal Department RMAF. He has also been a prosecutor and president of courts-martial. Colonel Wan Normazlan has been involved in the teaching and training of Malaysian Armed Forces personnel on the subject of Military Law and Operational Law.
