A Surveyor’s Handbook provides practical guidance on how to deal with the rent review process. Adopting a workflow methodology, this book takes the surveyor through each stage of the rent review: from consideration of the various aspects of the lease, preparation of the valuation to the conclusion of the review by negotiation or third party determination.

The process starts on the day of instruction, but it may not finish until an arbitration or expert determination has been concluded and the new rent noted on the lease. There are many steps that need to be taken along the way. This book leads the surveyor through those steps in a logical way.

Appendices of relevant legislation and the RICS combined practice statements and guidance notes Surveyors acting as expert witnesses and Surveyors acting as advocates are included in full.

‘There can be little doubt that such a useful work will be widely welcomed by all practitioners.’
