Before the global financial crisis, EU/EEA state aid law and financial regulation were entirely separate domains that rarely met. The close encounters between these areas brought about by the financial crisis have resulted in interactions which have not always been smooth or straightforward.

The Research Handbook on State Aid in the Banking Sector brings together experts in state aid and in financial regulation, drawn from legal academia, legal practice, economics, and from the EU and EEA institutions to shed light on this relationship.
