The new 2013 edition covers the changes to sentencing law made by the Legal
Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, which come into force in
December 2012.

The changes include:

• The introduction of a new duty to impose a life sentence on a second conviction for certain offences
• Changes in the law relating to extended sentences, simplification of the treatment of time spent in custody on remand
• New powers to deal with breaches of community orders and suspended sentences
