This book features a commentary on the Land Titles Act (Cap 157) 2004 Edition. The Land Titles Ordinance marked the beginning of a parallel system of conveyancing in Singapore alongside the common law title (or deeds) system. The Ordinance overcame significant flaws of the Registration of Deeds Act. Most significantly, the Land Titles Ordinance required validation of title to land by registration.

The present Land Titles Act has since evolved into legislation with distinctive local attributes. These are reflected in terms of the technical amendments that have been effected over more than three decades, culminating in the computerised land and titles registration system administered by the Singapore Land Authority.
