About the Author

Sridhar Ramamoorti, Ph.D., CPA, CIA, CFE, has a unique, blended academic-practitioner background with over 25 years of experience in academia, auditing, and consulting in India, the Middle East and the United States. After finishing his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, Dr. Ramamoorti served on the accountancy faculty of the University of Illinois. Subsequently, he has been a principal in the professional standards group of Arthur Andersen, Sarbanes Oxley Advisor for Ernst & Young’s National Advisory Practices and a Corporate Governance partner with Grant Thornton. A member of the Grant Thornton authoring team on the recently issued COSO Guidance on Monitoring Internal Control Systems, he is also co-author of the second edition of an IIA-published textbook on internal auditing as well as The Audit Committee Handbook, to be published by John Wiley/Grant Thornton in fall 2009.

Active in the profession, Dr. Ramamoorti serves on many nonprofit boards, and has been the inaugural Chairman of the Academy for Government Accountability, a Trustee of the IIA Research Foundation, and is Co-Chairing the Steering Committee for the Global Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK) Study for the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Jae K. Shim, Ph.D., is a financial consultant to several companies and Professor of Accounting and Finance at California State University in Long Beach. Dr. Shim has 40 books to his credit and has published more than 50 articles in accounting and financial journals.

Joel G. Siegel, Ph.D., CPA, is a self-employed certified public accountant and professor of accounting at Queens College of the City University of New York. Previously, he was employed by Coopers & Lybrand and Arthur Andersen. Dr. Siegel has acted as a consultant in accounting to many organizations, including Citicorp, International Telephone and Telegraph, United Technologies, American Institute of CPAs, and Person-Wolinsky Associates. He is the author of 68 books and 300 articles on accounting topics. Dr. Siegel was the recipient of the Outstanding Educator of America Award and has served as chairperson of the National Oversight Board.

Nick Dauber, MS, CPA, is an accounting practitioner with client responsibilities primarily in auditing and taxation. His prior experience includes service as an audit and tax manager at a CPA firm. He is also an Instructor of Auditing and Taxation at Queens College of the City University of New York and was a lecturer and writer in auditing and taxation for Person-Wolinsky Associates.
