Style Writs for the Sheriff Court provides clear and concise illustrative guide to written pleading in general and Sheriff Court writs in particular. It provides styles of writs, defences, motions and other written pleadings most commonly encountered in the Sheriff Court. The 39 sheriff courts in Scotland deal with cases worth up to £100k. These can be cases of debt, family disputes, anti-social behaviour, child welfare, theft, bankruptcy. The sheriff court does not deal with any cases of murder, rape or treason.

The new fifth edition of this highly regarded text provides updated and new Style writs including:

It will also incorporate changes brought about by legislation including the Home Owner and Debtor Protection (Scotland) Act 2010, the Court Reforms (Scotland) Act 2014 which created the All Scotland Personal Injury Court (ASPIC) and provided that the exclusive monetary jurisdiction of Scotland's sheriff courts was increased from £5,000 to £100,000. Appeals to the Sheriff Appeal Court will also be covered.
