The Court of Appeal: A Guide is the first book to cover Ireland’s new Court of Appeal, which began work in November 2014 following a referendum the previous year. The Court took many of the appeals from the Supreme Court, shortening the waiting list and leaving the court of final appeal to fulfil its proper function, to “explain the Constitution to the Irish people, whose document it is”. This book also explains the grounds for ‘leapfrog’ appeals from the High Court direct to the new court. The Court of Appeal (An Chúirt Achomhairc) replaced the Court of Criminal Appeal and the Courts-Martial Appeal Court.
