The Solicitor's Handbook 2013 is a comprehensive yet user-friendly guide to the regulatory maze that governs the conduct of solicitors.

In addition to the SRA Code of Conduct, this essential Handbook covers the Accounts Rules, financial services regulation, money laundering requirements and ABS regulations.

It also usefully sets out the extent of the regulator's powers and describes the practical workings of the regulatory and disciplinary processes (including investigations by the SRA and proceedings before the SDT), as well as the relevant rights of appeal and review.

This invaluable resource includes expert commentary from leading practitioners in the field on every aspect of the regulation of solicitors, which will help you ensure compliance within your firm.

This authoritative guide takes into account all of the significant regulatory changes that have been introduced since October 2011, including:

  • Coverage of the ban on referral fees introduced by the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 from next year
  • Expanded coverage of Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal proceedings
  • The abolition of the assigned risks pool from 1 October 2013
  • How OFR is being implemented in practice
  • The regulatory regime within which ABSs operate.

This is an invaluable guide for every solicitor in England and Wales who needs to be aware of their duties and obligations under the new regulatory regime, whether they are working in private practice, the public sector or in-house.
