This book identifies and analyses reported and suspected cases of trafficking in persons in all its forms, including trafficking of women into the sex industry and into domestic servitude, child trafficking, and labour trafficking. Particular emphasis is placed on the outline, interpretation and analysis of Australian legislative and regulatory frameworks pertaining to the criminalisation of trafficking in persons, law enforcement, prosecution of offenders, and protection of victims.

About the Author

Andreas Schloenhardt is Professor of Criminal Law and the Director of International Relations at The University of Queensland TC Beirne School of Law in Brisbane, Australia. He holds a PhD in Law from The University of Adelaide. Andreas is the author of over fifty books, book chapters, and journal articles in the fields of criminal law, organised crime, migrant smuggling, trafficking in persons, narco-trafficking, terrorism, international criminal law, and immigration and refugee law. At The University of Queensland, Andreas coordinates the Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Working Groups.

Jarrod M Jolly is an LLM candidate at Washington University in St Louis, Missouri. He holds an LLB and BA from The University of Queensland and has previously studied at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Between 2009 and 2012 he mentored the UQ Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Working Groups. Jarrod is the author of several articles and papers on topics relating to trafficking in persons and migrant smuggling and has worked extensively in consulting capacities with Andreas Schloenhardt for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Islamabad and Vienna.
