About the Author

Richard Chisholm BA, LLB (Syd), BCL (Oxon) Richard graduated in Arts/Law at the University of Sydney, qualified as a solicitor, and then completed a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) degree at Oxford University. On his return, he accepted an academic position at the UNSW Law School, where he remained for 23 years. In 1993 he was appointed a judge of the Family Court of Australia.

Garth Nettheim AM (Tufts USA), LLB (Syd) Emeritus Professor of Law, University of New South Wales.Garth graduated in Law at the University of Sydney, and later completed a Master of Arts at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, USA. He began teaching law at the University of Sydney in 1963 and moved to the new Law School at the University of New South Wales in 1971. His major areas of interest are constitutional law, administrative law, human rights and Indigenous legal issues.
