Jason P. Walton

Jason P. Walton is a partner with Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, with offices in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C. He focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning and the taxation of trusts and estates, and he also counsels clients on estate administration matters. In addition, his practice encompasses tax pass-through entities such as limited liability companies, S corporations, and limited partnerships. He is involved in structuring various business entities using LLCs and partnerships and drafting the related agreements, all with the goal of implementing his clients’ estate planning needs. He also represents clients in all tax aspects of real estate financings involving like-kind exchanges. Additionally, he represents mortgage portfolio servicers and successor borrowers in connection with defeasances of commercial mortgage loans. In addition, his practice also includes transfers of business interests involving REMICs. Mr. Walton received his BS, summa cum laude, in 1997 and his MBA, summa cum laude, in 1998 from Spring Hill College. In 2001, he graduated from Washington and Lee University with his JD, cum laude, and received an LLM in 2002 from New York University. He is admitted to practice law in South Carolina, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. He divides his time between his offices in Charleston, South Carolina, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
