IDS Employment Law Handbook: Working Time provides a detailed examination of the scope and coverage of the Working Time Regulations. This Handbook gives an up-to-date, comprehensive analysis of the law governing working time, including the 48-hour week, the right to daily and weekly rest periods and rest breaks, the right to paid annual leave, and the special provisions concerning night working time, health assessments and night-to-day transfer.

This new edition covers the extensive changes to the Regulations that came into effect in 2024. Among other things, the amended Regulations codify the case law of the European Court of Justice on holiday pay and carry-over of annual leave; introduce a new system of hourly-based holiday accrual and the possibility of rolled-up holiday pay for 'irregular hours' and 'part-year' workers; and clarify employers' record-keeping requirements.
