Not only is the issue topical at the moment with numerous studies and extensive discussion on the issue of an aging population, but in June 2004 the federal government passed a landmark piece of legislation, namely, the Age Discrimination Act 2004. The legislation means that there will be an enforceable remedy in federal law for people who suffer discrimination on the basis of their age.
