Changes in the law relating to extended sentences, simplification of the treatment of time spent in custody on remand
New powers to deal with breaches of community orders and suspended sentences
Changes in the law relating to the imposition of suspended sentences.
New provisions requiring courts to impose surcharge orders, which came into force on October 1, 2012
