When Land Law was first published in 1984, it was the only book dealing with the law of real property in Singapore. Although the fourth edition is almost double the size of the first, the goal of the book remains the same: to state, in straightforward terms, the basic principles of a complex subject. It is an introductory guide, not just for students but for other people who need to know something about the law of real property. Practising lawyers also find it useful.

In the words of Judge of Appeal V K Rajah in his foreword to the third edition (in 2007), Mr Ricquier explains "with incisive clarify" legislative and case law developments.
