This is the second edition of Banking Law in Hong Kong: Cases and Materials.

Since the first edition was published in 1995, Hong Kong has experienced great political and legal change. As Hong Kong continues to develop at the pace required to remain one of the world’s pre-eminent financial centers, the law will inevitably evolve with and alongside the economy.

This book illuminates readers as to the legal principles related to banking practice and clearly illustrates their application by reference to case law and the key legislation.

This edition is revised to further explore the particularities of the Hong Kong banking system, its historical background and legal framework. It also includes a new chapter on payment systems and provides updates on the application of the common law principles across the whole subject area.

Sara Tsui, the author of the second edition, is a solicitor in Hong Kong and a Teaching Fellow at the School of Law, City University of Hong Kong.
